Boy Scout Troop 115 of Crofton will hold an open house from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Community United Methodist Church, on Reidel Road across from the Crofton Convalescent Center.

The open house will include hiking, camping and wilderness survival exhibitions as well as information on troop programs.

To join the Scouts, boys must be at least 10 1/2 years old and have completed the fifth grade.

The Arundel Volunteer Fire Department and Ladies Auxiliary will hold a beach party on March 27 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Arundel Fire Hall on Davidsonville Road.

Tickets are $15 a person or $25 a couple and include beer, snacks and setups. Disc jockey Young Martin will provide the music and conduct limbo and twist contests.

The Goodwill Crofton Donation Center on Route 3 will reopen March 13. The center will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. the second Saturday of each month. Donations are tax deductible and help disabled or disadvantaged people.

The Arundel High School Key Club will sponsor a craft fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., March 20 at the school, 1001 Annapolis Road in Gambrills. Supervised child care by Key Club members will be available. Proceeds will benefit the Key Club's annual convention.

The Crofton Meadows Elementary School PTA and Human Relations Committee are sponsoring Grandparents Day on Friday. Grandparents will visit their grandchildren's classes. PTA President Linda Craig said the children are eager to show their grandparents what they do in school.

The Community United Methodist Women are sponsoring a Talent Auction at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Church Fellowship Hall, 1690 Reidel Road.

Talents and services that will be auctioned include tutoring, paintings, flying lessons and boat rides on the Chesapeake Bay. Proceeds will benefit the Women's Mission Project in the Solomon Islands in the South Pacific. For more information, call Judy Kelly, 721-9152.

The Scouting for Food Program sponsored by the Boy Scouts of America's Baltimore Area Council and Giant food stores is again under way in Crofton.

Local Scouts spent most of Saturday dropping off food collection bags at residents' doors.

They'll collect them this Saturday.
