Carolina routs Mount, 15-4

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Brendan Carey and Ryan Wade (Severn) each scored three goals to lead No. 3 North Carolina (1-0) over Mount St. Mary's (0-1), 15-4, in a NationsBank Classic game yesterday.

Donnie McNichol, Ousmane Greene and Steve Speers each added two goals for the Tar Heels, who led 11-0 at halftime.

Dave Gorelick and Matt Abraham each scored two goals for Mount St. Mary's.

North Carolina out-shot the Mountaineers, 69-19.

In the other game of the Classic, Duke beat Stony Brook, 18-4.

The Classic moves to Durham, N.C., today, where North Carolina will play Stony Brook at 1 p.m. and Mount St. Mary's will face Duke at 3 p.m.
