The first open tryouts for the Baltimore Bays, which were scheduled for today and tomorrow at Fox Meadow in Fallston, have been postponed until next Saturday because of the snowfall.

Bays general manager Ben Neil said the rescheduled tryouts for the United States Interregional Soccer League team would begin at noon at Fox Meadow.

The one-day tryout is to be the first of several open tryouts that would be held around the state before the April 23 season opener.

Ticket requests

The Bays general manager said the Bays have received 100 checks in the mail for tickets.

"It's hard to believe we've had that much interest when the tickets won't be printed until Friday," Neil said.

Bays on the air

Neil said the Bays are close to announcing a deal with a local radio station to broadcast eight home games and an undetermined number of road games.

Neil said former Baltimore Blast player Bobby McAvan will do commentary on the broadcasts.

"They call Bobby the Soccer Doctor because he is well-versed in the outdoor and indoor game," Neil said.

Corporate sponsors

Anyone interested in being a corporate sponsor should contact team officials at (410) 327-BAYS.

Youth leagues

Tryouts for the Bays-sponsored five boys and five girls youth teams will be held in late April, said Neil.
