Western Maryland College forward Rolando Welch has been selected to the Middle Atlantic Conference Southwest Section men's basketball All-Star team.

It is the second postseason honor for the Green Terrors' %J tri-captain, who was picked to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Division III All-Middle Atlantic District second team earlier this week.

Welch, a 6-foot-3 junior, led Western Maryland in scoring (19.4), rebounding (13.3), steals (44) and blocked shots (43).

Welch's 320 rebounds was the second-highest season total in school history, and his 466-point total was third best. He is the first Green Terror to earn MAC All-Star status since Jim Hursey (1985-86).

In the MAC Southern Division, Welch finished first in rebounding and second in scoring. He was the first Western Maryland player to finish with a double-figures rebounding average since Bob Kurzenhauser averaged 10.4 in 1974-75.

Welch holds the Western Maryland record for career blocked shots with 114. His other three-year totals include 791 points and 584 rebounds, a figure that puts him ninth on the Green Terrors all-time list.

Western Maryland finished the season 5-19 with a 2-10 mark in the MAC-Southwest Section.
