Man charged with theft of car, property damage

A 20-year-old Ellicott City man was charged with auto theft Wednesday after fingerprints found in a recovered car linked him to the theft, Howard County police said.

Christopher Michael Kelly of the 3600 block of Mount Ida Drive was charged with theft and malicious destruction of property, police said.

On Feb. 12, a red 1988 Chevrolet Camaro was stolen from the 4300 block of Centennial Lane. The car's ignition had been popped to start it, police said.

The Camaro was recovered four days later on a parking lot in the 9200 block of Baltimore National Pike, police said.

Deadline's here for cable grants

Today is the deadline to apply for a cable television production grant from the county government.

These grants are available to individuals or groups who live or work in Howard County.

The program will be handled by the cable television administrator.

The criteria for the grants include education, information or entertainment value of the project to the residents of Howard County; appropriateness of the scope; and involvement of Howard County residents as volunteers.

All appropriate copyrights will be reserved exclusively for and by the Howard County government.
