QUAIL PRAISE

Chapters of Quail Unlimited in Maryland, DNR upland game program director Peter S. Jayne says, have done an extraordinary job in assisting with restoration of the species in the state.

"There are chapters in Southern Maryland, the Lower Shore and Potomac," Jayne said, "and they have contributed tens of thousands of dollars in seed and equipment and have actually funded a staff person for our agency for a year and a half."

On Saturday, Quail Unlimited and the DNR are sponsoring a quail habitat workshop at the Izaak Walton League facility in Hughesville in Charles County.

The workshop will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and include a discussion of new and old views on upland game habitat. Special guest speaker will be Jef Hodges from Missouri.
