Police seek information in shooting death

February 24, 1993

State police investigators are looking for anyone who can shed light on the last hours of a Westminster man found slain beside the Monocacy River in northwestern Carroll County on Feb. 18.

The death of William Charles Prodoehl, 34, a carpenter, was the second homicide in the county this year.

Police, who said they have no suspects, ask anyone who saw Mr. Prodoehl or is aware of his movements on Feb. 17 or Feb. 18 to call the state police barracks in Westminster at 848-3111 or 876-8943.

Police said they have executed search-and-seizure warrants, have interviewed neighbors and co-workers, and continue to search for a weapon.

Mr. Prodoehl had gone fishing on Wednesday. When he did not return, his wife, Gina Maria Catterton Prodoehl, and Roy Robertson, a friend, went to look for him on Thursday.

They found Mr. Prodoehl's body shortly after noon in the 4500 block of Baptist Road near Starners Dam. An autopsy revealed that he died of gunshot wounds to the head.
