Rush-hour crash injures two on state Route 140

Two motorists were injured in a three-vehicle crash on state Route 140 during morning rush hour yesterday.

The accident near Gorsuch Road closed one westbound lane of the highway at 8:19 a.m. and sent the injured to Carroll County General Hospital, where they were treated and released.

They were identified as Gennady Gluzman, 34, of Baltimore and Thomas Allan Hancock, 39, of Union Bridge.

Police said Ms. Gluzman's 1986 Ford Escort became disabled and stopped in the center lane of traffic. Mr. Hancock's 1984 Toyota pickup truck stopped behind the Ford and was struck in the rear by a 1988 Plymouth Caravelle operated by Rebecca Jean Reed of Westminster and pushed into the Ford.

Ms. Reed was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. She was not injured.

POLICE

* Westminster: Someone entered a Pennsylvania Avenue home and removed articles valued at $250 on Thursday.

A window of a house on North Colonial Avenue was broken on Feb. 14 and $20 was taken.

Property valued at $7 was removed from the glove compartment of a car parked on Poole Road on Sunday.

A resident of Kemper Avenue reported to police that someone entered her home and removed property valued at $5 on Friday.
