Deadline is Friday for cable TV grant

Friday is the deadline to apply for a cable television production grant from the county government.

These grants are available to individuals or groups who live or work in Howard County.

The program will be handled by the cable television administrator.

The criteria for the grants include education, information or entertainment value of the project to the residents of Howard County; appropriateness of the scope; and involvement of Howard County residents as volunteers.

All appropriate copyrights will be reserved exclusively for and by the Howard County government.

Applications are due no later than 4 p.m.

Checker to perform at Turf Valley

Chubby Checker and the Wildcats will perform at a dance from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. March 5 at Turf Valley Hotel and County Club, 2700 Turf Valley Road in Ellicott City.

Tickets are $20 for each person. Overnight packages at the hotel are available. Information: 465-1500.

* Elkridge: : 6300 block of Howard Lane: Someone stole $1,643 worth of tools from a 1992 GMC Safari truck between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Friday.

* Ellicott City: : 10100 block of Colonial Drive: Two MTX 8-inch woofers valued at $160 were stolen from a 1987 Jeep Wrangler between 1:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. Sunday.

2900 block of Eddwood Drive: A $200 12-inch color TV and a $200 VCR were stolen from a 1989 Chevrolet van between 6 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Sunday.
