Towson clinches Big South title with 75-60 win

ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- Devin Boyd scored 26 to lead Towson State (16-8, 12-2) past UNC-Asheville (4-19, 2-13), 75-60, last night and clinch first place in the Big South Conference.

The win gives the Tigers the Big South Conference regular-season title and the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament.

Towson took the lead for good off of Boyd's layup with 8:12 left to play. Boyd's basket sparked a 17-0 Towson run which ended with 2:10 left and the Tigers ahead 69-52.

David Jackson led UNC-Asheville with 20 points.

Towson was without the services of starting center John James, who was ill with the flu and did not dress for the game.
