Falling snow, ice break car windshield CENTRAL -- Union Mills * Westminster * Sandymount * Finksburg

February 18, 1993

Snow and ice toppled from the roof of a school bus and shattered the windshield of a trailing car, spraying the car's driver with glass about 11 a.m. yesterday.

Lois Ann Witty, 38, 1200 block of Guadelupe Drive near Westminster, told Tfc. Richard Wolfe she was behind the bus southbound on Route 27 near Hampstead Mexico Road

when the snow and ice flipped into the air and crashed on the windshield and hood of her car.

The impact caused the windshield to shatter and pop out of its frame.

The Westminster medic unit was dispatched to the accident and treated Ms. Witty for minor cuts on her face and hands, but she refused hospital treatment.

None of the passengers on the bus, which was transporting 19 students from the Carroll County Career and Technology Center, was injured.

The bus driver, Carol Jane Horne, 48, of Westminster, continued her trip with the students after the state police investigation.
