Eight basketball games are postponed by weather

February 17, 1993

Inclement weather forced the postponement of all of yesterday's high school sporting events in Howard County.

Eight basketball games were postponed until Friday, including a pivotal boys basketball game between Centennial and Hammond, two of four teams currently tied for first place.

Centennial is one of the hottest teams in the league, having won four of its last five league games. Hammond has won three straight league games.

Centennial (13-4, 6-3) never has won a county championship. Hammond (9-7, 6-3), which finished second six straight years until last year, hasn't won a county title since 1983.

Other games postponed included Centennial at Hammond girls, and three boys and girls doubleheaders, featuring Oakland Mills at Mount Hebron, Atholton at Howard and Wilde Lake at Glenelg. The boys games will begin at 6 p.m. Friday with the girls games following at 7:30.
