SHA plans road work in summer

February 17, 1993

The State Highway Administration will reroute part of Route 97 at Old Liberty Road (Route 850) between Eldersburg and Winfield, and will patch potholes on Route 140 this summer.

The work will include relocating about 1,000 to 1,200 feet of Route 97 to eliminate one of the highway's two current intersections with Old Liberty Road, said Dan Doherty, an area engineer for the SHA.

The relocation will make Routes 97 and 850 a four-way intersection, he said, instead of the current three-way interchange.

"It'll make things a little safer," Mr. Doherty told the county Planning and Zoning Commission yesterday.

The work is expected to begin in June.

Patching on Route 140 from Route 91 to Route 31 is expected to begin in July, Mr. Doherty said.
