Liquor store owner, 70, stabbed in carjacking

A Jessup liquor store owner was stabbed Monday night as two men stole his car after he locked up his business, county police said.

Seon Ok Song, 70, of Ellicott City, owner of US 1 Liquors, 8167 Washington Blvd., had closed the store when two men entered his 1985 silver Plymouth Voyager. Mr. Song was stabbed in the torso as he struggled with the men, who then fled in the car, police said.

Mr. Song was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he was in fair and stable condition yesterday.

The Maryland license plate number of the stolen car is NZE453.

Town house plans are scaled back

Citing the need to keep homes away from a 100-year-old cemetery, the county Planning Board pared back plans yesterday for a small town-house cluster in the Kings Woods subdivision in North Laurel.

"The seven-unit setup really crowds in on the cemetery," Theodore F. Mariani told his fellow board members, before joining the majority in approving six units in a 3-2 vote.

The six town houses would be built on 2.2 acres along Royal Path and Woodsong courts, and would be neighbors with other Kings Woods town homes, one single-family property and a small cemetery deeded to Frank Curry.

The additional town house would have been within 15 feet of the cemetery. With only six units, the revised plan calls for a yard between the homes and the grave sites.
