Cash is stolen from restaurant in Brooklyn Park

Burglars made off with an undisclosed amount of cash after they broke into the Homestyle Family Buffet in Brooklyn Park sometime between 10 p.m. Saturday and 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

According to the police report, officers were called to the restaurant in the 6600 block of Ritchie Highway after a passer-by noticed that a back delivery door was open.

Officers found that someone had pried open the door, but had not triggered the alarm. Police found a crowbar on a table.

The burglars had broken into the office and it appeared that they had used a blow torch to break into the safe. Bank deposit bags were cut open and emptied, police said.

Woman sees stranger drive off in her car

A woman's car was stolen outside a Brooklyn Park convenience store Saturday night.

According to the police report, the woman, 20, left her keys in her car and ran into Lucky's convenience store in the 5000 block of Ritchie Highway at 9:36 p.m.

When she came out several minutes later, she saw a man getting into her 1979 AMC Concord. He pushed the woman away and drove off.

The woman flagged down a police officer and told the officer she hadseen the man around the neighborhood before. Police found the car a short distance away at a paint store on Ritchie Highway.

The woman said $63 was missing from the glove box.
