Boy, 13, remains in intensive care

David Bates, 13, of the 200 block of Nicodemus Road in Westminster was still in the intensive care unit at Children's National Medical Center in Washington late yesterday afternoon.

Officials at the hospital would not release the child's condition.

The youth had been flown there by helicopter after being struck by a car Saturday while crossing Route 91, near Route 32 in Gamber. Police said the boy crossed the road without looking and ran into the path of a car driven by Samuel Shipley of Eldersburg.
