A New Windsor man was taken to Carroll County General Hospital yesterday afternoon after he drove his car into the path of an oncoming vehicle on Wakefield Valley Road.

Police said Terry Lee Garver, 37, of the 1600 block of Bowersox Road, was attempting to make a left turn onto Brick Church Road in New Windsor when he drove his Chevrolet Metro in front of a GMC Sierra driven by Benjamin Donald Jackson.

Mr. Jackson, 30, of the 1300 block of Wakefield Valley Road, was driving westbound on Wakefield Valley Road and struck the right front of Mr. Garver's car.

Mr. Garver was treated and released at Carroll County General Hospital after the accident.

On Thursday night, two men were flown by helicopter to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore after an accident on Crouse Mill Road.

Raymond Wallace Shelton, 77, of Benner Lane in Taneytown, told police the brakes locked on his Buick Regal as he drove southbound on Crouse Mill Road. Police said Mr. Shelton crossed the center line into the northbound lane.

The car was then struck by a Chevrolet Malibu driven by 40-year-old Richard Osborn Tooker of the 400 block of Bucher John Road in Union Bridge.

Both men have been released from the hospital.
