According to a University of Michigan study published last year, one in 10 American families owns a recreational vehicle -- from a pop-up camper to a luxury lodge on wheels.

On the next two three-day weekends, the Maryland Recreational Vehicle Show will have on display a Notebook

wide range of motor homes, travel trailers, pop-up campers, truck campers and van conversions.

The show will be at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium on Feb. 19-21 and Feb. 26-28. Admission is $6 for adults and free for children under 12 when accompanied by an adult. The show opens at noon each day.

"The RV industry has evolved from a seasonal activity to a year-round opportunity for vacation travel," said Leo Merkel, a board member with the Maryland Recreational Vehicle Dealers Association.

Bluefish tournament time

The Maryland Saltwater Sportfishermen's Association's annual bluefish tournament will be May 15 and 16 in Maryland's waters of the Chesapeake Bay.

The tournament, offering more than $192,000 in prizes, is open to amateur fishermen only, and all boat skippers must be members of the MSSA.

The entry fee per boat is $125 before March 15 and $150 afterward.

A $100,000 prize will go to the angler who breaks the International Game Fishing Association bluefish record.

More reasonable chances will be found in categories for largest bluefish, children's divisions and catch and release awards.

For information on entries, tournament rules and other prizes, call the MSSA at (410) 768-8666.
