13-year-old boy is hit by car on Rte. 91 in Gamber

February 14, 1993|By From Staff Reports

A 13-year-old boy was struck by a car yesterday afternoon while crossing Route 91, near Route 32, in Gamber, state police at Westminster said.

David Bates of the 200 block of Nicodemus Road, Westminster, was flown by helicopter to Children's National Medical Center in Washington. His condition was not immediately available.

Trooper Frank Childress said the boy apparently crossed the road without looking and ran into the path of a car driven by Samuel Shipley of the 6500 block of Panorama Drive, Eldersburg. Trooper Childress said the driver was unable to stop.

Trooper Childress said that the road was wet but that weather was not a factor in the 2 p.m. accident.

No charges have been filed against the driver.
