Here's what to look for if you are traveling in the Baltimore metropolitan area this week.

This list of highway projects includes only newly announced work, not continuing construction, which is extensive on several highways, including Interstate 95, U.S. 50/301 and the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.

New highway projects

U.S. 1 (Belair Road) -- Effective until 5 a.m. tomorrow, only one southbound lane will be available on Belair Road between Dunfield Road and Silver Spring Road. Northbound traffic will follow posted detours. Repairs are being made to a water pipe system below the road.

I-95 and Interstate 195 -- Two left lanes will be closed today on northbound I-95 between the Howard County line and the southbound ramp to I-195 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for overhead sign maintenance.

I-695 inner loop between Wilkens Avenue and U.S. 40 west -- Expect left-lane closures and work in the median for installation of glare screens from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays. Work is expected to continue through Feb. 26.

I-695 inner and outer loop between Putty Hill Avenue and the Lillian Holt Bridge -- Expect left lane closures from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays to expedite installation of traffic barriers. Work is expected to continue through March 6.

Bus route changes:

The MTA has scheduled the following bus route changes for this week. Information: 539-5000; TTY for the hearing-impaired, 539-3497.

Presidents Day

Buses, Metro and Light Rail will operate on a regular schedule tomorrow, while the MARC trains will run on a holiday schedule.
