Inclement weather forced the postponement of all last night's high school sporting events in Harford and Howard counties.

Eight basketball games in Howard County were postponed until Wednesday, including a pivotal girls game between No. 4 Hammond and No. 3 Mount Hebron.

Other games postponed included Hammond at Mount Hebron boys, and three other boys and girls doubleheaders featuring Howard at Wilde Lake, Oakland Mills at Centennial and Atholton at Glenelg. The girls games will begin at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and the boys games are scheduled for 5 p.m.

In Harford County, where schools were closed, a complete slate of boys basketball games and the county swimming and diving championships were postponed, and three wrestling matches were canceled.

With the students out of school Monday and Tuesday of next week, and county games scheduled for Wednesday and Friday, it is possible the four basketball games -- Havre de Grace at C. Milton Wright, Bel Air at Aberdeen, Edgewood at Joppatowne and Fallston at North Harford -- will be moved to the end of the regular season, Feb. 26.

The swimming and diving finals, listed for Magnolia Middle School, have been rescheduled for Wednesday, beginning at 6 p.m.

With the Maryland Scholastic Association and county wrestling championships listed for next week, the meets -- Aberdeen at Bel Air, John Carroll at Edgewood and C. Milton Wright at Archbishop Curley -- will not be rescheduled.
