Woman arrested in prescription fraud

A 30-year-old Reisterstown woman was arrested and released on $500 bond Wednesday after police say she transferred a prescription issued to another person by telephone to the Giant Pharmacy in Westminster and obtained the tranquilizer Diazepam.

Sandra Emily Casteel of Ewing Drive was charged with two counts of attempting to obtain a prescription drug by fraud, one count of obtaining a drug by using a false name and one count of attempting to obtain a drug by using a false name.

Police arrested the woman as she drove away from the pharmacy.

Finksburg crash victim in stable condition

Doctors at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center upgraded the condition of Iris Hand of Hampstead to fair and stable yesterday, as she recuperates from a car crash Wednesday on Wesley Road near Finksburg.

Mrs. Hand, 42, of the 300 block of Houcksville Road, was southbound on Wesley Road when she lost control of her Chevrolet Blazer on a curve. The vehicle left the road and flipped twice, state police reported.

FIRE

* Westminster: Westminster and Reese responded to a field fire on Tannery Hill Road at 10:46 a.m. Thursday. Units were out for more than two hours, and Reese filled in at the Westminster station for about 90 minutes.
