Oakland Mills to discuss proposal to install traffic lights at 0) intersection

The Oakland Mills village board will have a public meeting tonight to discuss a proposal to install traffic lights at Stevens Forest Road and Kilimanjaro Road.

The meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. at the Other Barn.

A county Department of Public Works study determined that the intersection met national standards warranting a signal light.

Stevens Forest Elementary School PTA members have advocated that the county take measures to control vehicle speed on Stevens Forest Road near the school so students can cross the street safely.

Village board Chairman Albert J. Dunn said that some residents might oppose installation of traffic lights at that location.

A county public works official is expected to attend the meeting.
