Lions' Davidson out for season

February 11, 1993|By Jeff Seidel

Liberty's Mike Davidson, the leading scorer in the county's boys basketball league, is out for the season after breaking a bone in his left thumb last Friday night at Westminster.

Davidson, who led the county with an average of 18.0 points, will be out at least four to six weeks. The baseball status of the senior, who plays outfield, is uncertain.

The injury occurred with 5:03 left in the first quarter of the Lions'75-38 loss to Westminster.

Davidson drove to the basket and fell on his hand. After being called for a charging foul, he came up in pain.

Coach Scott Kohr pulled him immediately, and postgame X-rays revealed the break.

"We certainly will miss him," said Kohr. "[Eighteen] points a game is a big [gap] to fill."
