Laurel man charged in 2 Crofton robberies

A Laurel man has been charged with robbing two Crofton businesses in the past three weeks, county police reported.

Thomas Joseph William Miller, 25, of the 15000 block of Dorset Road, was charged with robbing Vince's Deli in the 1200 block of Robert Crain Highway Jan. 28 and the Soda Pop Shop Mart in the 2000 block of John Hopkins Road Feb. 1.

Investigators said that in each incident a man walked into the business early in the morning and brought something to the cash register, as if he were going to pay for it. When the clerk rang up the sale, he took out a knife and demanded money. Once he received the money, he ran out of the store.

Last week, Prince George's County police arrested Mr. Miller in connection with the armed robbery of a convenience store there. The store clerks in Crofton identified Mr. Miller as the man who robbed their stores, police said.

Severn man charged with assault

A Severn man was charged with assault with intent to murder after police said he pointed a shotgun at another man early yesterday.

Police said that when officers arrived at a home in the 1800 block of Greybird Court, a 21-year-old man told them that Dennis Arthur Delger, 30, of that address, had pointed a shotgun at his stomach and head.

Mr. Delger had left the home before police arrived, but soon returned and was taken to Western District to be charged.
