Top male

Danny Sancomb, Meade

Boys' basketball

Sancomb, a 6-foot senior swing man, poured in 49 points, including 29 against Annapolis Friday in a 1-1 week for the Stangs (14-2). After a 20-point effort with 11 rebounds in a 72-61 victory over Old Mill (6-7) on Tuesday, Sancomb's scoring and rebounding (nine) kept Meade in a tough 67-62 loss to Annapolis (10-5). "Danny has been giving us that [average of just over 17 points] all year," said Meade coach Butch Young.

Top female

Jen Johansen, Northeast

Girls' basketball

This 5-foot-4 sophomore guard set a county record for three-pointers in a game with seven Friday night in an 80-50 romp over Queen Anne's (0-7). Johansen hit 7 of 10 from the three-point range and finished with a game-high 27 points, giving her 41 in two games for the Eagles (8-9) last week. She also had five assists, nine steals and six rebounds.

Charlie Bennett, Broadneck

Bennett was the lone wrestler from the host team to win a final in Saturday's 10th annual Bruins' Invitational at Broadneck High. The 12th-grader posted a 9-4 decision over Queen Anne's Jason Warnick to take the 125-pound bout.

Indoor track

Old Mill girls' 1,600 relay team

The foursome of Jenny Porter, Carrie Klimes, Leann Denton and Raina Domneys set a meet record in the 1,600-meter relay at Wednesday's seventh annual Anne Arundel County Relays held at the Fifth Regiment Armory in Baltimore. Their time of 4:16.6 eclipsed the old mark also set by Old Mill in 1988 by nearly two seconds. Klimes, Domneys and Denton also teamed up with Erica Davis, Martise Moore and Michelle Smith to take the 800, sprint medley and shuttle/hurdle relays.

Ice hockey

Keith Prandy, Archbishop Spalding

Prandy rejected 16 shots on the Cavaliers' goal to preserve a 6-4 victory over Wilde Lake (2-4-1) of Howard County in the Maryland Scholastic Hockey League on Friday. His play in the cage enabled coach Bert Kiesling's third-place Northern Division Cavs to improve to 5-3.
