Atlanta Braves -- Agreed to terms with C Greg Olson on a one-year contract worth $925,000, more than double his 1992 salary of $350,000.

Chicago Cubs -- Agreed to terms with former Orioles 3B Craig Worthington to a minor-league contract. Worthington hit .167 in nine games for the Cleveland Indians last season.

Florida Marlins -- Agreed to terms with P Cris Carpenter ($725,000) and C Steve Decker on one-year contracts.

Houston Astros -- Agreed to terms with 2B Craig Biggio ($11 million), 3B Ken Caminiti ($10.9 million) and OF Steve Finley ($10.4 million) on three-year contracts.

Los Angeles Dodgers -- Agreed to terms with P Ramon Martinez on a one-year contract worth $1,775,000, more than double his 1992 salary of $725,000.

Montreal Expos -- Agreed to terms with OF Larry Walker on a one-year contract worth $3 million, more than triple his $975,000 salary last season.

St. Louis Cardinals -- Named George Hendrick minor-league hitting and outfield instructor.

San Francisco Giants -- Agreed to terms with P John Burkett on a one-year contract worth $1.55 million, four times his $375,000 salary last season.


New York Knicks -- Placed F Eric Anderson on the injured list. Activated G Bo Kimble.

Los Angeles Clippers -- Announced that F Ken Norman (14.5 ppg., 8.1 rebounds) has the chickenpox and will be sidelined for at least 10 days.

Orlando Magic -- Placed F Dennis Scott on the injured list.


Cleveland Browns -- Named Ozzie Newsome assistant offensive coach and assistant pro personnel director and Woody Widenhofer linebackers coach. Promoted pro personnel director Mike Lombardi to director of player personnel. Designated tight ends coach Ernie Adams as special assignments coach.

Dallas Cowboys -- Announced that Jim Eddy, fired as Houston's defensive coordinator, is joining the team as a defensive assistant.

Green Bay Packers -- Signed FB Robert Wilson, TE Jesse Anderson, WR Troy Kyles, LB Terry Crews, CB Tracey Sanders and DE Malcolm Showell.

Kansas City Chiefs -- Named Mike McCarthy offensive assistant for quality control, a new position with the NFL club.

New York Giants -- Named George Sefcik running backs coach, Dick Rehbein wide receivers coach, James Daniel tight ends coach and Don Blackmon linebackers coach.


NHL -- Named Stephen Solomon, the senior vice president of sports planning and administration at ABC Sports since 1986, senior vice president.

Hartford Whalers -- Signed D Zarley Zalapski to a two-year contract retroactive to the start of the 1992-93 season.

Los Angeles Kings -- Recalled D Tim Watters and D Rene Chapdelaine from Phoenix (IHL). Assigned D Jeff Chychrun to Phoenix.

Montreal Canadiens -- Recalled C Jesse Belanger from Fredericton (AHL).

New York Rangers -- Recalled RW Alexei Kovalev and D Peter Andersson from Binghamton (AHL).

Philadelphia Flyers -- Traded G Stephane Beauregard to the Winnipeg Jets for a 1993 third-round draft pick and future considerations.


California -- Fired men's basketball coach Lou Campanelli. Assistant coach Todd Bozeman will take over for the rest of the season.
