City Council to consider new recycling plan

Annapolis' recycling program could be expanded to include newspapers and tin under a new proposal before the City Council.

The plan to hire a private company to pick up recyclables is on a packed council agenda tonight.

Other items on the agenda include a nonprofit foundation's plans to build 194 homes for low- to moderate-income families off Forest Drive and a bill that would speed up the process for a developer to receive approval to build a grocery store at Forest Drive and Bywater Road.

Also, the council will discuss a resolution to sponsor a design competition to revitalize a section of West Street known as Taylor West.

The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. in City Hall, 160 Duke of Gloucester St.
