Doctor to speak to university women

Dr. William Harlan, an associate director of disease prevention at the National Institutes of Health, will be the guest speaker at a meeting of the American Association of University Women, at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow at Dunloggin Middle School, 9129 Northfield Road in Ellicott City.

Dr. Harlan is responsible for overseeing the recently established Women's Health Initiative, which will develop recommendations for prevention of cancer, cardiovascular disease, stroke and osteoporosis, all major causes of death and disability among American women.

* Elkridge: 6400 block of Greenfield Road: Someone broke a glass panel on the left side of a vehicle between 6:10 p.m. Jan. 29 and 10:15 a.m. Jan. 30.

* Ellicott City: 9600 block of Gudel Drive: Someone spray-painted "FUDD" on the back of a motor home between 8:30 p.m. Jan. 29 and 7 a.m. Jan. 30.

10100 block of Hobsons Choice Lane: Someone applied black paint to a Mazda pickup truck between Jan. 26 and Jan. 28.

9400 block of Old Frederick Road: Someone entered a 1990 Ford Bronco between 7:40 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, and stole a $300 Sony AM-FM cassette receiver, a $430 Sony CD changer,about 20 CDs valued at $270 and two 12-inch speakers valued at $270.

8300 block of Chestnut Farm Lane: A front door was kicked in between 12:45 p.m. and 2 p.m. Thursday, and a house was ransacked. Unknown items were taken.

2600 block of Orchard Ave.: A side door was kicked in between 7:40 a.m. and 6:35 p.m. Thursday, and the house was ransacked. A pitcher of juice was taken from the refrigerator and left on the floor. It was unclear whether items were taken.

3000 block of Oak Green Court: Someone tried to steal a 1984 Chevrolet Camaro between 8:30 p.m. Sunday and 1:40 p.m. Wednesday.
