Man robs grocery in Edgewood Thursday

A robber escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash late Thursday from an Edgewood Shell Food Mart.

The man walked into the store in the 1700 block of Hanson Road at about 10:45 p.m., covering part of his face with a paper towel, police said. He held his hand in his coat pocket, implying that he had a weapon, and demanded money from the clerk.

Police said the man ran toward the Meadowood Townhouse Community. They are seeking a light-skinned black male in his 20s who stands 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 150 pounds. He had brown eyes, close-cut hair, and was last seen wearing a dark gray coat with pockets and dark pants.
