International Motor Sports Association -- Announced that 1993 races at New Orleans and San Diego have been canceled.

Baseball

Atlanta Braves -- Agreed to terms with C Javier Lopez, OF Tony Tarasco and P Pedro Borbon on one-year contracts.

California Angels -- Announced that P Matt Keough will remain as special assignment scout.

Chicago White Sox -- Agreed to terms with 11-time All-Star C Carlton Fisk (.229 in 188 at-bats) on a one-year contract.

Colorado Rockies -- Signed P Doug Bochtler and P Travis Buckley to one-year contracts.

Milwaukee Brewers -- Agreed to terms with P Jaime Navarro, P Graeme Lloyd, P Michal Ignasiak, C Joe Kmak and OF Alex Diaz on one-year contracts. Navarro (17-11, 3.33 ERA), who will earn $2.1 million, had asked for $2.3 million; the club had offered $1.6 million. Sold the rights to P Archie Corbin to the Montreal Expos for cash.

Montreal Expos -- Agreed to terms with P Ken Hill (16-9, 2.68

ERA) on a one-year deal worth $2 million. Hill, who made $620,000 in 1992, had sought $2.2 million in arbitration; the club had offered $1.5 million. Agreed to terms with IF-OF Archi Cianfrocco on a one-year contract. Designated P Joe Ausanio for assignment.

New York Mets -- Agreed to a one-year deal worth $635,000 with OF Chico Walker (.289 in 253 at-bats), who made $275,000 in 1992. Walker had asked for $800,000 in arbitration; the club had offered $525,000. Agreed to terms with IF Tim Bogar on a one-year deal.

Oakland Athletics -- Agreed to terms with 2B Lance Blankenship on a one-year contract worth $627,500. Blankenship, who made $205,000 last season, was seeking $760,000 this year; the club had offered $625,000. IF Jerry Browne (.287), who made $375,000 in 1992, received $625,000 in arbitration; Browne had asked for $1,950,000.

Seattle Mariners -- Agreed to terms with SS Omar Vizquel, P Jeff Darwin and OF Lee Tinsley on one-year contracts. Vizquel (.294 batting average, .989 fielding average), who received $360,000 last season, will receive $1,112,500. He had asked for $1,375,000; the club had offered $850,000.

Texas Rangers -- P Kenny Rogers (3-6, 3.09 ERA) lost his $1.5 million arbitration request; he will $1 million, a $380,000 raise.

Colleges

Albright -- Coach Jeff Sparanga, whose football teams were 16-54 over the past seven years, resigned.

Army -- Named Mike Conners interim men's basketball coach.

Auburn -- Asked the NCAA for more time to answer charges against the school's football program.

Cornell -- Named Pete Noyes defensive coordinator and Jeff Stoutland offensive line coach.

Iowa State -- Fired AD Max Urick a week after he was told his contract would not be renewed when it expired June 30.

Football

AFC -- Added Los Angeles Raiders DE Howie Long to the Pro Bowl team, replacing Buffalo Bills DE Bruce Smith (injured ribs).

Buffalo Bills -- Promoted John Butler from director of player personnel to GM and Jerry Foran from director of marketing and sales to executive vice president for administration.

Chicago Bears -- Named Ivan Fears receivers coach and Clarence Brooks defensive line coach.

New York Jets -- Named Johnny Roland running backs coach.

Horse racing

Fair Grounds -- Suspended jockey Rick Faul, pending a steward hearing on allegations that he possessed illegal shocking devices.
