Sam Lomax, North County

Indoor track

Lomax won two events, including a county record-setting two minutes, 2.3 seconds in the 800-meter run at Wednesday's Anne Arundel County Indoor Track Championships at Baltimore's 5th Regiment Armory. The senior Knight also won the gold medal in the 500-meter run with a time of 1:09.

Top female

Christy Nichols, Arundel

Indoor track

This Wildcats ninth-grader decisively wiped out the county record for the 3,200-meter run with a time of 11:46.4 at Wednesday's county championships in Baltimore. Nichols, who also took the 1,600 jaunt in 5:25.7, eclipsed the record of 12:01.2 in the 3,200 set by Severna Park's Heidi Allen in 1988.

Boys' basketball

Darren Hall, South River

The 6-foot-7 Hall had 55 points in two Seahawks wins, including 34 in a stunning 86-84 overtime win over Annapolis on Wednesday. In what was the school's first-ever victory over the sixth-ranked Panthers, Hall also pulled down 15 rebounds. The senior came back with 21 points and 14 rebounds in a 62-53 victory over Severna Park.

Girls' basketball

Shannon Henderson, Annapolis

Henderson had 56 points and grabbed 25 rebounds in a pair of Panthers wins (10-3) last week. Friday in a matchup with Southern's Laekeka Wesley (16 points, 11 rebounds), Henderson scored 29 points and had 15 rebounds and four steals to pace a 53-42 victory. Two nights before, the 6-1 junior had 27 points, 10 rebounds, four steals, four assists and four blocks in a 63-39 romp over South River.

Wrestling

Don Patterson, Old Mill

Patterson posted a pair of pins in the 189-pound division as the defending state and county champions (8-0) of coach Mike Hampe rolled to victories over two key rivals: Arundel, 40-21, and Broadneck, 65-3.

Swimming

Tim Libby, Severn School

Libby won two individual events and was part of the Admirals' 400-yard freestyle and medley-relay teams in a 114-53 MSA victory over Archbishop Curley. Both the 100-yard backstroke (1:07.5) and freestyle (55.61) competitions went to Libby.
