Wildwood Park plan wins board's approval

The Mount Airy Planning and Zoning Commission approved final plans for the Wildwood Park development on Ridge Road.

The board's approval last week was contingent on the developer erecting a fence around an adjacent storm water management pond and making clarifications to the final plans. The 31-lot development is across from Parr's Ridge Library and a senior center.

Board members also reviewed a proposal to charge annexation petitioners $2,000 to cover administrative and other costs the town incurs during annexation. The measure has been introduced before the Town Council, which may take action tonight.

A Carroll County planner told the board that subcommittees have been formed to address issues associated with planning growth in southwest Carroll. Issues being studied include recreation and public services.

The subcommittees started meeting last week.

A public information meeting on the subcommittees' reports will be held in the spring.

* Winfield: Units from Winfield, Lisbon and Sykesville responded to a house fire on Buckhorn Road at 10:02 p.m. Friday. The fire took them nearly an hour to extinguish.
