Glenelg senior scholarship semifinalist

David B. Buckholtz, a senior at Glenelg High School, is one of 1,780 semifinalists in the 1993 Coca-Cola Scholars Program.

Mr. Buckholtz, 18, was chosen from more than 100,000 applicants for his leadership, character and achievement in school and the community.

If selected as one of the 150 Coca-Cola Scholars, he will attend the national competition in Atlanta April 1-3 to compete for a designation as a national or regional scholar.

Fifty national scholars will receive awards of $20,000 each, and 100 regional scholars get $4,000 each.

While maintaining a 4.0 grade point average and taking an advanced placement curriculum, Mr. Buckholtz also has played for his high school baseball and basketball teams, been president of the National Honor Society and been legislative affairs liaison for the Howard County Association of Student Councils. He was selected a Maryland Distinguished Scholar finalist.
