BALTIMORE CITY

* THEFT: Western District -- Someone entered a parked 1986 Mazda in the 400 block of N. Smallwood St. Wednesday night and stole a cassette player valued at nearly $500.

* RAPE: Western District -- Police were seeking a man known as "Kenny" in connection with the rape Wednesday afternoon of a woman behind the 2100 block of Edmondson Ave. The victim, a resident of the 600 block of Wicklow Road, was treated at the University of Maryland Medical Center and released.

* CUTTING: Western District -- A teen-age resident of the 1500 block of W. Franklin St. was cut in the face with a knife Thursday morning during an argument with a 12-year-old girl in the 600 block of N. Gilmor St. The victim was taken to Bon Secours Hospital for treatment and released. It was not immediately known if the younger girl was arrested.

* ROBBERY: Western District -- A gunman robbed a resident of the 1800 block of W. Lafayette Ave. of nearly $200 in the 1100 block of Riggs Ave. Thursday morning.

* CARJACKNG: Western District -- A gunman robbed a resident of the 4300 block of Connecticut Ave. of his 1990 Toyota Corolla Thursday afternoon while the victim was stopped at a stop sign in the 600 block of Whitmore Ave.

* ASSAULT: Western District -- A resident of the 1000 block of N. Woodyear St. was in the 1100 block of N. Woodyear St. Thursday afternoon when he was attacked by two men who struck him with baseball bats. The men escaped and the victim was treated at the scene for injuries to his arms.

* BURGLARY: Western District -- Someone entered a house in the 2600 block of Edmondson Ave. Thursday through a rear basement door and stole a VCR valued at $400.

* BURGLARY: Western District -- A diamond-studded gold watch, valued at nearly $200, was stolen from a house in the 2400 block of Harlem Ave. Thursday night.

* THEFT: Central District -- A coat, several books, shirts, ties and other items, all valued at $1,000, were stolen Wednesday afternoon from a car parked in the 300 block of Dolphin St.

* SHOOTING: Central District -- A resident of the 1800 block of Ashburton St. was turning to run away from a gunman following an argument in the 900 block of Whitelock St. Wednesday night when he was shot four times in the left arm and chest. The victim was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he is listed in serious condition.

* THEFT: Central District -- Leather jackets and bowling equipment, all valued at $600, were stolen from a car parked in the 1800 block of Maryland Ave. Thursday night.

* THEFT: Central District -- A briefcase, purse and suitcase, all valued at nearly $700, were stolen Wednesday night from the 400 block of W. Lombard St.

* PURSE SNATCH: Central District -- A resident of Royal Oak, Md., was walking in the 600 block of Ploy St. Thursday morning when a man stole her purse containing cash and property, all valued at more then $500.

* ROBBERY: Central District -- A man attacked a resident of the 900 block of N. Calvert St. in the first block of E. Eager St. Thursday morning and robbed him of a watch and ring, all valued at $200.

* BURGLARY/ARREST: Central District -- Police responding to a burglary at Rose Shanis loans in the 300 block of N. Howard St. Wednesday arrested a man who attempted to escape with office equipment valued at $700. Entry was gained by breaking a window.

* BURGLARY: Central District -- Someone with a key entered a cooking school and deli building in the first block of S. Calvert St. Tuesday morning and stole power tools valued at more than $1,000.

* BURGLARY: Central District -- Computer equipment valued at $3,000 was stolen from an exhibition room at the Sheraton Inner Harbor Hotel in the 300 block of S. Charles St. Thursday morning.

* ROBBERY: Southern District -- A gunman robbed a resident of the 3800 block of 9th St. in Brooklyn of his jacket valued at $125 Thursday afternoon after forcing the victim into an alley off the 600 block of E. Patapsco Ave.

* BURGLARY: Southern District -- At least $500 worth of cigarettes were stolen Wednesday night from Marcus pharmacy the 2000 block of W. Pratt St. by someone who pulled a metal grate from its frame and then broke a window.

* BURGLARY: Southern District -- Someone entered a storage shed in the 1100 block of Wicomico St., owned by John Hudnet & Co. of Fallston, Harford County, and stole tools valued at nearly $400.

* BURGLARY: Southern District -- More than 200 feet of copper piping was stolen from a house in the 2400 block of Alaska Court in Westport Thursday morning by someone who entered through a door.

* ROBBERY/ARREST: Southwestern District -- Police arrested a man Thursday morning in connection with the assault and robbery of a female resident of the 500 block of Wellesley Ave. in the 2100 block of Frederick Ave. During the robbery, the woman was struck in the face.

* BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- Someone entered a house in the 100 block of S. Augusta Ave. Thursday and stole a VCR and a 35mm camera, all valued at nearly $1,000.
