Man threatens clerk, robs Crofton deli

A man threatened to stab a Crofton deli clerk yesterday morning before robbing the establishment of an undetermined amount of money.

Police said the man walked into Vince's Deli, on Route 3 north of Davidsonville Road, about 6:45 a.m. and brought an item to the cash register.

After the 23-year-old clerk rang up the total, the man said, "Open up the drawer or I'm going to stab you in the back," police said. When the clerk complied, the man reached in and took money for himself.

Police said the man kept his right hand in his jacket, implying that he had knife but never displaying the weapon. After getting the money, he ran out toward a Blockbuster Video store located nearby.

The man was described as white, 23 to 25 years old, weighing between 140 and 150 pounds. He was wearing a "Giants" baseball cap backward, a brown wool jacket and black jeans.
