BALTIMORE CITY

* BURGLARY: Southern District -- Fifty cartons of various brands of cigarettes, all valued at $900, were stolen Wednesday morning from Luke's grocery store in the 300 block of S. Woodyear St. by someone who entered by breaking a window.

* AUTO THEFT: Southern District -- A 1984 Buick with state license plates VGY-299 was stolen Wednesday from the 2400 block of Westport St.

* AUTO THEFT: Southern District -- Someone stole a 1986 Dodge with unknown temporary tags on it from the 2700 block of Giles Road Wednesday morning.

* AUTO THEFT: Southern District -- A 1986 Buick with registration plates VXC-412 was stolen Wednesday morning from the 800 block of W. Pratt St.

* BURGLARY: Southern District -- A video game and several game cartridges, all valued at $1,000, were stolen Wednesday from a house in the 3500 block of 6th St. in Brooklyn.

* BURGLARY: Western District -- Stereo equipment valued at $300 was stolen from a house in the 1100 block of Harlem Ave. between Jan. 23 and Tuesday by someone who entered through the front door.

* ROBBERY: Western District -- A resident of the 1500 block of Bentalou St. was standing in the 1500 block of W. Lafayette Ave. Tuesday night when a gunman robbed him of his leather coat.

* RAPE: Western District -- Police were seeking a man who entered the bedroom of a woman in the 1100 block of N. Fulton Ave. over the weekend and raped her. The man is known to the victim. Following the rape, the woman was taken to the University of Maryland Medical Center for treatment and released.

* BURGLARY: Western District -- Two stereo speakers, a cassette player and $50 was stolen from the Pentecostal Holiness Church in the 1100 block of N. Gilmor St. between Tuesday and Wednesday.

* BURGLARY: Western District -- A 19-inch TV valued at nearly $300 was stolen Tuesday from an apartment in the 300 block of N. Fulton Ave. by someone who entered through a door.

* THEFT: Western District -- While Truck No. 10 from the city fire station in the 1500 block of W. Lafayette Ave. was parked in the 800 block of N. Mount St. on Jan. 23 someone stole a fire ax that was attached to the vehicle.

* ROBBERY: Western District -- A resident of the 3800 block of Fordleigh Road was standing at a bus stop in the 1600 block of W. North Ave. Wednesday night when a gunman robbed him of an undisclosed sum of cash.

* BURGLARY: Western District -- Property valued at more than $1,000 was stolen from a house in the 800 block of W. Fairmount Ave. Wednesday by someone who entered through a rear bedroom window.

* ASSAULT: Northeastern District -- A 45-year-old resident of the 100 block of Avondale Road was attacked in the 2700 block of Fenwick Ave. Wednesday by a man who struck him with a baseball bat. The armed man escaped.

* BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Property valued at nearly $400 was stolen from a house in the 6400 block of Cedonia Ave. Wednesday by someone who entered through a window.

* BURGLARY TRY: Northeastern District -- A man was frightened off by a burglar alarm when he broke into a house in the 2900 block of Montebello Terrace through a basement window Wednesday.

* PURSE SNATCH: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 3900 block of Wilke Ave. was shopping in the Farm Fresh store in the 4200 block of Frankford Ave. when a man stole her purse containing $55 and fled the store.

* PURSE SNATCH: Northeastern District -- A 70-year-old resident of the 8500 block of Tallwood Road in Timonium, Baltimore County, was walking in the 4400 block of Parkside Drive Tuesday morning when a man stole her purse containing cash and property, all valued at nearly $500.

* THEFT: Central District -- Tools valued at $300 were stolen from a 1989 Jeep parked in the 200 block of E. Biddle St. Tuesday by someone who opened a rear window.

* THEFT: Central District -- Someone entered a 1992 Ford parked in the 1100 block of Maryland Ave. Tuesday and stole property valued at nearly $200.

* BURGLARY: Central District -- Property valued at $750 was stolen Tuesday night from a second-floor apartment in the 2100 block of Mount Royal Terrace by someone who entered by removing the lower panel of a door.

* ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- A gunman robbed Judy G's pizza carryout in the 1100 block of Haverhill Road Tuesday night of less than $100.

* BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- Someone entered the M & M grocery store in the 1800 block of Poplar Grove St. between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning through a window and stole property valued at $100.

* BANK ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- A man robbed the Provident Bank of Maryland in the 4500 block of Edmondson Ave. of an undisclosed sum of money Wednesday morning after giving a note that said the man was armed with a handgun. No weapon was displayed during the robbery.

* ROBBERY: Northern District -- Two men, one armed with a shotgun, robbed the Subway Sandwich Shop in the 500 block of W. Cold Spring Lane of an undisclosed sum of cash Wednesday night.
