Valove becomes head of hospital staff

Dr. Paul I. Valove has been named 1993 president of the professional staff of Howard County General Hospital.

Dr. Valove is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist with the Patuxent Medical Group/Columbia Medical Plan.

He received his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine, and he completed his internship and residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

He has served as chairman of the department of obstetrics and gynecology of Howard County General Hospital from 1984 to 1990.

Rouse to be honored by Arthritis Foundation

James W. Rouse, founder of The Rouse Co., has been selected to receive the 1993 lifetime achievement award from the Maryland Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation.

A formal dinner will be held in his honor March 9 at the Stouffer's Harborplace Hotel.

All funds raised at the dinner will be allocated to the Arthritis Foundation's efforts to bring health care to the Sandtown project, one of three communities chosen for a neighborhood transformation by Mr. Rouse's enterprise foundation.
