Artist, 70, to show work at Severna Park Library

Dorothy E. Evans wants her pictures back. But only for a little while.

The 70-year-old Severna Park resident gave her paintings to friends as gifts, but now they are to be displayed in the Severna Park Library, and she needs to borrow them for a while.

The free show will run from Monday through Feb. 28.

Mrs. Evans, who has lived in the community for 40 years, has more than two dozen oil, watercolor and pastel paintings ready for the display. One of her favorite pictures in the exhibit depicts a girl in old-fashioned dress with a rabbit sitting beside her.

"I've had separate pieces on display with other groups but never my own show," Mrs. Evans said. "I'm very excited and pleased about it."

Though she sells some of her work, Mrs. Evans said she paints mostly for pleasure. "It's very, very relaxing. You can just lose yourself in it," she said.
