Major League Baseball -- Announced that the Cleveland Indians will play the Los Angeles Dodgers in the annual Hall of Fame game in Cooperstown, N.Y., on Aug. 2. The Hall of Fame inductions will be Aug. 1.

Orioles -- Agreed to terms with P Brad Pennington, IF T. R. Lewis, IB Paul Carey and OF Don Buford on one-year contracts.

Colorado Rockies -- Announced the firing of top executives John Antonucci and Steve Ehrhart.

Milwaukee Brewers -- Agreed to terms with OF Kevin Reimer on a one-year contract worth $725,000, a raise of $200,000.

Minnesota Twins -- Agreed to terms with P Richard Garces to a one-year contract.

New York Mets -- Agreed to terms with P Mike Maddux on a two-year contract worth $2,375,000.

San Diego Padres -- Named Larry Doughty special assistant to the general manager.

Seattle Mariners -- Agreed to terms with IF/OF Carmelo Martinez on a contract with Triple-A Calgary.

Texas Rangers -- Agreed to terms with 1B Rafael Palmeiro on a one-year contract worth $4.55 million. Agreed to terms with P Hector Fajardo on a one-year contract.


NBA -- Fined John Salley of the Miami Heat $5,000 for a flagrant foul against Anthony Bowie of the Orlando Magic in Friday's game.

Charlotte Hornets -- Activated C Mike Gminski from the injured list. Waived former Washington Bullets F Tom Hammonds.

New Jersey Nets -- Placed G Tate George on the injured list. Activated F Jayson Williams from the injured list.


NCAA -- Placed the University of the Sewanee (Tenn.) athletic program on probation for two years for violations of NCAA legislation in men's basketball.

Colby -- Named David Zazzaro men's lacrosse coach.

DePauw -- Fired Sue Aquila, women's basketball coach and assistant AD. Named Page Cotton interim women's basketball coach.

Georgetown (Ky.) -- Announced the resignation of football coach Kevin Donley to take a similar position at California, Pa.

North Carolina-Charlotte -- Announced G James Terrell is leaving the basketball team.


Miami Dolphins -- Named Kim Helton offensive line coach. Announced that longtime Dolphins offensive line coach John Sandusky, 67, will retain his role as assistant head coach. Dwight Stephenson, assistant offensive line coach this past year and a five-time Pro Bowl center for the Dolphins, resigned to pursue business interests.

:. New York Giants -- Named Dan Reeves coach.


NHL -- Announced that St. Louis Blues D Garth Butcher was added to the Campbell Conference team for the All-Star Game. Butcher replaces injured teammate Jeff Brown.

Philadelphia Flyers -- Recalled G Dominic Roussel from AHL Hershey.
