Neall appoints Dickerson to commission

Yolande Dickerson of Brooklyn Park has been appointed to the Anne Arundel County Commission on the Status of Women for a two-year term ending Dec. 31, 1994.

County Executive Robert R. Neall announced his appointment of Ms. Dickerson Monday. The commission advises the county executive on matters promoting equal rights for women and eliminating discrimination in the public and private sectors of the community.

Ms. Dickerson is an education and training officer for the Department of Defense at Fort Meade, where she has worked since 1967. She attends the University of Baltimore.

Last year, Ms. Dickerson received the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People's President's Award for outstanding achievement in the African-American community.

She was named Woman of the Year by the Maryland Federation of Business and Professional Women in 1989.

She serves on the board of directors for the Community Action Agency of Annapolis and the Patapsco Park Improvement Association.

Additionally, she is chairwoman of Christian Social Involvement and United Methodist Women of Baltimore, and is also the program director of the Keaser Center Task Force of Anne Arundel County.
