Hampstead councilman optimistic about water

Town Councilman William S. Pearson Sr. said at the January meeting of the Hampstead Town Council that the water outlook for the town this summer looks promising.

"Use for the month of December was 265,000 gallons per diem," said Mr. Pearson. "Well below our daily usage goal of 300,00 gallons."

Well No. 25, a new well in the Roberts Field area with a capacity of 25 gallons a minute, is due to come on line in a week or so, Mr. Pearson said.

"It will be one of our smaller wells," he said.

Because of monitoring and conservation of the town's water supply and with a little generosity from Mother Nature with snow and rain, the town ought to be able to get through the summer without water problems even if there is a drought, Mr. Pearson said.
