Police are seeking gas station robber

Someone held up the Shell service station at McKinsey Road and Ritchie Highway at gunpoint Saturday night, fleeing with a small amount of cash after the clerk made a grab for the assailant's gun.

Police said a suspect, described as a white male between 18 and 25 years of age, entered the station about 8 p.m. wearing a nylon stocking over his face. He walked behind the counter and stuck a handgun in the clerk's side, demanding that he open the register.

As the suspect reached for the money, the clerk, Eric T. Bishop, 19, of Oak Avenue, Severna Park, grabbed for the weapon. The suspect backed away, pointing the gun at the clerk's face as he fled on foot south on McKinsey Road behind the Severna Park Mall. He escaped with a small amount of cash, police said.

The suspect was described as a white male, 6 feet tall, 170 pounds, with short dark hair.

He was wearing a blue or gray sweat shirt and blue jeans, with white tennis shoes. He was believed to be armed with a .45-caliber semiautomatic handgun.
