Here's what to look for if you are traveling in the Baltimore metropolitan area this week. This list of highway projects includes only newly announced work, not continuing construction, which is extensive on several highways, including Interstate 95, U.S. 50/301 and the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.

New highway projects

I-695 Eastside Inner and Outer Loop -- Expect delays and single-lane closures during bridge construction between Belair Road and Perring Parkway from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. tomorrow through Friday. Two lanes may be closed between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. tomorrow through Thursday.

I-695 Westside Inner and Outer Loop -- Expect delays and single-lane closures from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. today through Thursday between U.S. 40 and Liberty Road. The closures are needed for roadway and bridge reconstruction.

U.S. 50/301 -- Expect lane closures and traffic pattern shifts between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. tomorrow through Friday on eastbound and westbound lanes between the Patuxent River and Interstate 97.

Fort Smallwood Road -- Two of the three lanes on westbound Fort Smallwood Road are closed between Solley Road and just beyond the city line. Only the right lane is open. These lane closures are required to allow the repair of a water line.

Route 7, Philadelphia Road at Abingdon Road -- Travel on Route 7 is limited. Westbound traffic will be shifted to the newly constructed section of Route 7. Eastbound traffic will be detoured by making a right on to Cokesbury Road, then left on Abingdon Road and right on Route 7. This traffic pattern will be in effect until approximately Feb. 4, weather permitting. No truck over 5 tons will be permitted on eastbound Route 7 between Emmorton and Creswell Roads. Trucks can use I-95 or U.S. 40.

Security Boulevard -- Trucks are not permitted on the westbound ramp of Security Boulevard leading to the outer loop of I-695. Trucks will be detoured from Security Boulevard to the inner loop of I-695 to westbound Liberty Road (Route 26) to the ramp for the I-695 outer loop. This is a continuous around-the-clock detour that will be in effect for several months.

Security Boulevard, East and Westbound -- Expect single-lane closures east and westbound on Security Boulevard from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., today through Friday for rehabilitation of bridge decking.

I-695, Inner Loop -- Today, from 5 a.m. to noon, two left lanes will be closed between Joppa Road and Charles Street for bridge deck maintenance.

White Marsh Boulevard (Route 43) -- White Marsh Boulevard has been opened to traffic. White Marsh Boulevard extends from the inner loop of I-695 to I-95.

Seminary Avenue (Route 31) Detour -- Construction on Seminary Avenue between Railroad Avenue and Greenspring Drive will begin tomorrow and continue for approximately three weeks. The following detours will be in effect from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday: Westbound traffic will turn right on Railroad, left on Morris Avenue, left on Greenspring and right on Seminary. Eastbound traffic turns left on Greenspring, right on Morris, right on railroad, and left on Seminary.

Bus route changes:

The MTA has scheduled the following bus route changes for this week. Information: 539-5000; TTY for the hearing-impaired, 539-3497.

Temporary route

No. 23 -- Buses will travel a temporary route beginning Friday at 11 p.m. and continuing until 6 a.m. Saturday because East Lombard Street at Highland Avenue will closed for repair work. Eastbound via regular route to Highland Avenue and Baltimore Street, east on Baltimore, south on Conkling, east on Lombard, then via regular route. Westbound via regular route to Lombard and Conkling streets, north on Conkling, west on Baltimore, north on Highland, then via regular route.
