John Carroll tops No. 18 IND Girls basketball

Senior Amy Dean scored 20 points yesterday to lead John Carroll (5-5, 3-4) over host and No. 18 IND (6-7, 3-5), 51-40, in a Catholic League game.

* Patapsco 51, Overlea 27: Bobbie Zalewski and Heather Amend scored 10 each to lead Patapsco (6-4) past Overlea in a Baltimore County 2A-1A game. Ja'net Brown scored a game-high 11 for Overlea (0-9).

* Towson 61, Hereford 24: Sarah Weaver scored a game-high 19 to lead No. 20 Towson (7-1) past visiting Hereford.

* Franklin 34, Parkville 32: Sharee Lewis had 14 points to lead Franklin (6-4) past Parkville (4-7) in Baltimore County 4A-3A action. Sallie Neal led Parkville with 16 points.

* Old Mill 63, North County 16: Anne Chicorelli scored 11 to lead No. 3 Old Mill (10-1) past North County.

* Chesapeake-AA 43, South River 35: Denise Perrone scored 22 to lead Chesapeake (7-4) past South River (3-9). Cass Dunbar led South River with 16.

* Carver 53, Forest Park 46: Trailing by seven at the half, Carver (7-2) overtook visiting Forest Park with a 20-8 scoring run as freshman forward Vida Milberry scored 26. Sophomore guard Cassandra Miller added 12.

* Northwestern 61, Douglass 25: Today Butler scored 12 to lead Northwestern (6-2, 4-1) over host Douglass (2-7, 1-7) in a City-Wide 3A-2A-1A game.

* Glenelg CS 43, Pompei 21: Junior Stacey Lay scored 19 to lead Glenelg Country School (3-5) over host Pompei.

* Patterson 69, Mervo 40: Nicole Jones scored a game-high 18 and grabbed five rebounds to lead visiting Patterson (6-9) past Mervo in a City-Wide 4A League game. Bridgett Evans led Mervo with 15.

* McDonogh 43, Catholic 35: Sonia Chase led all scorers with 21 to lead visiting No. 12 McDonogh (10-4) past Catholic (3-7) in an AIS A Division game.

* Mercy 60, Aberdeen 22: Gayle Belz scored a game-high 17 and Christina Williamson added 12 to lead No. 10 Mercy (10-5) past host Aberdeen.

* Dulaney 52, Kenwood 32: Senior center Jen Jones scored 12 and had six rebounds to lead Dulaney (7-4, 7-4) past visiting Kenwood in Baltimore County 4A-3A action.

* Catonsville 68, Dundalk 17: Senior forward Carey Shockney scored 17 as host Catonsville (9-2) defeated Dundalk in a Baltimore County 4A-3A League game.

* Sparrows Point 29, Chesapeake-BC 27: Junior guard Sloane Rogers led the Pointers with 10 as visiting Sparrows Point defeated host Chesapeake (6-2) in a Baltimore County 2A-1A League game.

* Annapolis 72, Northeast 47: Cristi Samaras led all scorers with 26 and grabbed nine rebounds and

teammate Shannon Henderson added 24 points and 17 rebounds to lead host Annapolis (8-3) past Northeast. Maleah Rey and Amy Van Fossen led Northeast with 12 points each.

* Walbrook 86, Northern 17: Senior guard Nakia Downing had a game-high 20 and sophomore forward Jamee Greenwood scored 18 (9-for-12 from the field) and grabbed 10 rebounds as No. 16 Walbrook (7-3) defeated Northern in a City-Wide 3A-2A-1A game.

* Southwestern 47, Southern 39: Junior forward Ronisha Smith had a game-high 19, and had five rebounds, six steals and three assists as Southwestern (3-5) defeated Southern in a City-Wide 3A-2A-1A League game.

* Western 69, Poly 31: Chanel Wright scored 22 and had 10 rebounds and six steals, leading top-ranked Western to its 15th win. Kia Dammon and Danielle Davis each added 10 for the Doves, who are 10-0 in the league.

* Atholton 51, Centennial 42: Nicole Blankenship scored 12 and Stephanie Van Deusen added 11 as visiting Atholton defeated Centennial (3-9, 0-5) in a Howard County game.

* Arundel 38, Glen Burnie 32: Senior Alina Smith scored 14 as Arundel (8-5) defeated host Glen Burnie (3-7).

* Lansdowne 51, Woodlawn 43: Junior forward Jami Schlaich helped pace No. 19 Lansdowne (11-2, 9-2) over visiting Woodlawn.
