Mervo works OT to top Patterson Walbrook rolls

Warren Wright scored 29 points and Victor Jones added 25 as Mervo (9-4, 5-2) defeated host Patterson, 89-88, in overtime, in a Maryland Scholastic Association Gamper Conference 4A-1A Division game yesterday.

Wright, who also had six rebounds, rallied the Mustangs in regulation with back-to-back three pointers in Boys basketball

the final 30 seconds. Junior guard Corey Hartz sealed the win for Mervo with a three-pointer with 15 seconds left in overtime. Todd Gross led Patterson with 22 points.

* Walbrook 72, Northern 45: Andre Rafus scored a game-high 19 as No. 3 Walbrook (12-1, 9-0) breezed by Northern (3-10, 2-7) in MSA Gamper Conference 3A Division action.

* Carver 67, Forest Park 65: Tyron Johnson hit a three-pointer with nine seconds left in regulation, lifting Carver (7-4) past Forest Park (4-10) in an MSA Gamper Conference intra-divisional game. Allen Wise led Forest Park with 28 points.

* Woodlawn 90, Lansdowne 58: Donte Dudley scored 20 points and Keon Carpenter added 18 as 6th-ranked Woodlawn (13-0, 11-0) defeated Lansdowne (3-8, 3-8) in a Baltimore County 4A-3A League game.

The Warriors, off to their best start in their 32-year history, outscored the Vikings 26-9 in the second quarter. Joe Jenkins led the Vikings with 19 points.

* Douglass 91, Northwestern 78: Rodney Gunter scored 25 to help Douglass (8-5, 4-3) recover from a 41-31 halftime deficit to defeat host Northwestern (3-11, 1-7) in an MSA Gamper Conference 3A Division game. Andre Crockett led Northwestern with a game-high 29 points.

* Glenelg CS 40, Pompei 32: Chris Lehmann scored 13 and went 4-for-5 from the free-throw line in the last two minutes to give Glenelg Country School (1-7) its first victory this season, over host Pompei. Ken Shipley led Pompei with 17.

* South River 69, Chesapeake-AA 65: Darrin Hall scored 20 and Corey Davis added 17 to lead South River (5-6) past Chesapeake (5-7), in an Anne Arundel County game. Ken Findley led all scorers with 25 for Chesapeake, and Jerry Scheff added 22.

* Calvert Hall 57, Gilman 51: Senior forward Chirs Wilson scored 19 and Brian Taylor added 15 as No. 10 Calvert Hall (12-5, 6-2) defeated Gilman, in a MSA Armstrong Conference A Division game. Mosie Bennett led Gilman with 18.

* Sparrows Point 79, Chesapeake-BC 57: Will Marshall scored a game-high 30 points, leading Sparrows Point (8-2) past Chesapeake-BC, in a Baltimore County 2A-1A League game. Carnell Damon added 17 for Sparrows Point. Lamar King led Chesapeake with 26 points.

* Annapolis 73, Northeast 52: Senior guard Lozonnah James scored 22 and Wendell Williams added 15 to carry host and fourth-ranked Annapolis (9-2) past Northeast (4-8) in an Anne Arundel County game.

* Lutheran 50, Arlington Baptist 49: Junior guard Damian Valentine scored 21, and Lutheran (3-9) built a six-point lead in the last two minutes before holding off Arlington Baptist (1-8).

* Carroll Christian 84, Harford Christian 58: Matt Greenstreet had 23 points and seven steals to help Carroll Christian (12-4) defeat visiting Harford Christian (5-11). Neil Stark led Harford Christian with 19 points.

* Gibbons 51, McDonogh 36: Steve Wojciechowski scored 18 points to lead No. 5 Gibbons (13-7, 7-0) over host McDonogh (6-7, 4-6) in an MSA Armstrong Conference A Division game. Dante Evans led McDonogh with 17.

* Edgewood 73, Bel Air 37: Alfred McAllister scored a game-high 21 points as host Edgewood (10-3, 5-1) defeated Bel Air (6-6, 4-2) in a Harford County game.

* Granite Baptist 54, Capitol Baptist 51, OT: Senior center Bud Grammer and senior forward Shad Bab each had 19 as visiting Granite Baptist (9-0) defeated Capitol Baptist (5-2).

* Overlea 76, Patapsco 75: Bernard Fitchette hit a jumper with three seconds left to lift Overlea (7-3, 5-2) over host Patapsco (3-5, 3-4), in a Baltimore County 2A-1A League game. Darrell Esteppe led Patapsco with a game-high 27.

* St. Maria Goretti 63, Towson Catholic 51: Matt Semler scored 14 points and teammate Chris Cunningham added 12 to lead visiting St. Maria Goretti past No. 12 Towson Catholic (6-8) in a Catholic League game. Sharif Butler led Towson Catholic with 17.

* Centennial 86, Atholton 58: Damian Biggs scored 24 and Brian Hulka added 14 as host and No. 17 Centennial (10-3, 3-2) in a Howard County League game.

* Hereford 89, Towson 67: Jamey Matthews scored 34 and had 12 rebounds as Hereford (6-6, 5-3) defeated visiting Towson (2-8, 2-6). DeWayne Fowble added 21 and John Wingeart had 12. Damian Tobias led Towson with 19 points.

* Loyola 65, St. Frances 62: Warren Parker scored a game high 17 and teammate Wes Unsled Jr. added 15 and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead No. 9 Loyola (13-5, 5-1) past visiting St. Frances (4-8, 2-3) in a Catholic League game. Orlando Ranson led St. Frances with 16.

* Perry Hall 63, EVT 51: Forward Pernell Owens scored 13 points and senior guard Jeff Burrows had 11 to lead no. 20 ranked Perry Hall (12-3) over host EVT.

* Dulaney 65, Kenwood 64: Junior forward Elliott Smalls scored 24 and Dulaney (6-6) went on a 33-16 scoring run to rally past Kenwood (3-8).
