Coppin takes 4th win in row, defeats UMES

PRINCESS ANNE -- Sidney Goodman scored 16 points and Tariq Saunders added 15 to lead Coppin State (6-6, 3-0) to a 79-69 victory over UMES (7-8, 3-2) last night in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game. It was Coppin's fourth straight win.

Midway through the second half, Saunders, Kyle Locke and Keith Carmichael all hit three-pointers in a 13-3 run to give the Eagles a 61-46 lead with 8:26 left.

The Hawks responded with an 15-5 run as Zach Allison scored eight points to cut the deficit to 66-61 with 5:32 remaining.

Goodman and Saunders combined for 12 points in the last 5:30 to give Coppin the victory.

Marlin Kimbrew had 19 for UMES.
