Chamber of Commerce honors members

Wayne Barnes, past president of the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce, gave two awards yesterday to members who were very supportive of his administration.

June Poage, president of Westair, which manages the Carroll County Regional Airport, received the award for individual support.

"This person is Ms. Dependable," said Mr. Barnes at the chamber's monthly meeting. "From making phone calls to being chair of the ambassador's committee, she's willing to do anything."

The second recipient, for business support, went to the Carroll County Times for coverage of chamber events, articles on member businesses, free advertising space and printing pictures of educators nominated for the chamber's annual outstanding-teacher award.

New chamber President Dottie Wells also presented a plaque to Mr. Barnes.

County honors retiring employee

The Carroll commissioners yesterday honored Liz Passman, who retired as senior information and assistance coordinator for the county's Bureau of Aging.

Mrs. Passman, who had worked for Carroll since July 1984, was the first person to hold that job.

She was honored at a ceremony at the County Office Building.
