January 15, 1993|By Staff Report

Three men apprehended in Baltimore County after a brief car and foot chase late Wednesday night were charged yesterday in Carroll County with robbing a Sykesville woman as she left her job at the Harvest Inn in Eldersburg.

Dawn Dannette Alder told state police that one of the men opened the door of her automobile, demanded her money and then placed his hand over her mouth to prevent her from screaming as he grabbed her purse about 11:30 p.m.

She said the men escaped in a Jeep, driving east on Route 26 toward Baltimore County after stealing the handbag, which contained $160.

State police broadcast the description of the men and their vehicle.

About 25 minutes later, the car was spotted on Liberty Road near the Baltimore Beltway.

Baltimore County police pursued the car a short distance, until the three men stopped it, jumped out and ran.

They were quickly apprehended by county police. The victim's purse and money were recovered in the car.

The men, two from North Carolina and one from Baltimore, are being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on prior, similar robbery charges, police said.

They were identified as Oliver Alston Jr., 21, of the first block of Monastery Ave. in Baltimore; Albert Fox Jr., 21, of Nashville, N.C.; and Robert Earl Murphy, 24, of Rocky Mount, N.C.
