Green thumbs are invited to help beautify highway

The West Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce is trying to find people or groups interested in helping keep the new Route 32 in Odenton looking nice.

The chamber is working with the State Highway Administration and Del. Marsha G. Perry, D-Crofton, on plans to beautify the three-mile extension that connects Route 32 to Interstate 97, linking Columbia to Annapolis and Baltimore.

Marcia Hall, executive director of the chamber, said her organization is looking for groups to adopt portions of the highway to plant trees or other plants on designated days. In other activities:

* At a meeting scheduled for Feb. 4 at the Western District county police station in Odenton, the chamber will discuss beautification of Route 175.

The Greater Odenton Improvement Association and the chamber have adopted a stretch from the Odenton Shopping Center to the Route 32 overpass and will schedule yearly cleanups.

* The chamber also is proposing a May Day Spectacular, which will feature games, entertainment, food and craft displays.

For more information on any of

the above topics, call Ms. Hall at 672-3422.
